Welsh National Winner
The dominance of Colin Tizzard’s chasers continued into and over Christmas with the stunning victory of Thistlecrack in the King George VI Chase. Meanwhile, Native River was aimed at the Welsh National at Chepstow and he passed the test with flying colours having the race won 2 fences from home and in doing so becoming the first horse to win carrying top weight since 1991 and the first horse to complete the Hennessy/Welsh National double since 1987. He is now 8/1 2nd fav for the Gold Cup in March.
Taunton’s Christmas meeting is always well attended and this year was no exception. Swelling the crowd were the members of The Ditcheat Thoroughbred’s Syndicate following Coillte Lass in the Listed Mares Novices’ Hurdle. The drop back in trip was no problem and she didn’t let them down, coming home in front by 4&1/2 lengths.
