Last Quarter – SOLD
2017 bay gelding Walk In The Path x Lunar Path (Night Shift)
Last Quarter is a son of the very highly regarded National Hunt stallion, Walk In The Park (responsible for Champion jumpers Min and Douvan plus the very exciting Ginto and the £570k Jonbon) so much so that his stud fee is private. Last Quarter is a 4yo gelding from his first Irish covered crop since he was moved from France by Coolmore.
“Apple’s Jade is in foal to Walk In The Park, who I believe is a top class stallion. What he’s achieved in France with very small crops, if that carries through to his Irish crops, he’ll take over the world.” Eddie O’Leary – Gigginstown House Stud.

Colin Bowe was the winning bidder for him as a store during the COVID summer and what is also striking about this chap is he was bought as a store only in the middle of August at the delayed Land Rover Sale and has turned around to come and win a bumper in 7 months. Not only that, it was over the extra trip of two and a half miles and on the very first day of ‘pointers bumpers’ at Punchestown in Heavy ground. It was a thorough examination.
He was sent off favourite and after a few furlongs he was to be found in front setting a good pace without pulling or showing any inexperience. He looks very straightforward and has a great attitude given that once he was headed on the blindside, he chased down the leader who had slipped clear off the sharp final bend, and there was always only one result. The angle is quite deceptive and actually having something to chase helped to show us what he had left.
Irish Point to point website said the following:
‘LAST QUARTER (IRE) was to the fore for much of the trip here and having taken the home bend in a perfect position, he was quickly caught flatfooted when Jack Hendrick made a decisive move off the home bend which saw Last Quarter drop some four or five lengths adrift of him. That saw Barry O’Neill having to get quite serious on this Walk In The Park gelding, but once hitting top gear he quickly began to reel in the leader from where he was always doing enough to hold on.
He comes highly recommended from the vendor to me, who I have had great success with, has passed his vetting and is in my yard to view.
