Calico (GER) – SOLD

Calico is a 4yo gelding by Soldier Hollow who was beaten only a few lengths in the German St Leger on the 19th September. Of his twelve starts, he has won three and only been out the first four on two occasions, winning up to 12 furlongs on good and good to soft going.

He is a good sized horse standing 16″1 1/2 with a decent stride length and had the speed to hit the front in the Leger where he had the 96 rated Mark Johnston horse, Vivid Diamond (beaten less than 5 lengths in a Listed event at Chester a month ago and won the same event last year), 10 lengths adrift.

The English handicapper has since come back to me with a mark of 101. (Champion Hurdle second this year Sharjah is 99)

Soldier Hollow is a leading Sire in Germany, has already had three Grade 1 jumpers in England and Ireland, Arctic Fire, Soldier & Silsol plus Group 1 winners on the flat including the German Derby.

You will see his half sister won over hurdles and his dam was Black Type over 12 furlongs so plenty of class, stamina and aptitude for jumping in the pedigree.
