Cheltenham Gold Cup Success

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL 2018

The ‘experts’ and the stats guru’s had written him off given it has been 19 years and 36 attempts since See More Business became the last horse to win the Gold Cup having been unsuccessfull in their previous attempt however Native River and Richard Johnson had other ideas. Garth & Anne Broom’s flamboyant front runner has come a long way since being bought having unseated in 3rd position in his point to point, but he virtually led all the way to see off the King Gerge winner, Might Bite, his only serious challenger. I can honestly say, I have never been so proud of a horse I’ve bought, to think he’s won the Hennessy, a Welsh National, a Mildmay Chase, two Denman’s and now a Gold Cup!  Absolute legend and he will now have a proper summer’s break before next season’s campaign.

Huge congratulations to the Tizzard team who enjoyed a parade on Saturday morning at the local pub in Henstridge, Dorset.

Delta Work was bought privately aafter winning his ‘French AQPS bumper’ 18 months ago and had been running in good company in Ireland chasing home the likes of Samcro and Total Recall this winter. He ran for the leading owner/trainer/rider combination of Gigginstown House Stud, Gordon Elliott & Davy Russell and was the tightest winner of the week prevailing in a photo for the Grade 3 Pertemps Final.

Mohaayed caused a shock for some when winning the Grade 3 County Hurdle, going two places better than last year for Dan Skelton and Bridget Andrews. The fact he had been only 6 lengths behind Champion Hurdler Buveur D’Air in the Christmas Hurdle had been lost on some but this classy son of Intikhab had also been previously placed behind Gleneagles in the 2015 Irish Guineas for Keven Prendergast and was the work partner of the next year’s winner Awtaad. It was later in 2016 at the Newmarket October HIT Sale that we picked up Mohaayed for £32,000gns, brought him home and sold him on the website to current connections.
